MONSOON
SEASON- AUGUST UNTIL OCTOBER 2008- By John Hallen
A typical monsoon
pattern is occurring in the southwest US. The remnants of any tropical
storm/wave/low pressure area development in the East Pacific will lead
to some severe weather in Arizona and the deserts of Southern California
pretty consistently. At this time- there are severe thunderstorms developing
in the coastal areas in Southern California. Below is a picture of a rapid
developing thunderhead in the Southern California area. The trend is favorable
for some good monsoon thunderstorms if east Pacific Cyclones get going
and remnants move northward. SWS will update this page as these storms
develop.
