REMNANTS OF "Gustav"... TORNADO FRENZY- September 1st - 3rd, 2008 - By John Hallen

A SERIES OF TORNADOES HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY THE NOAA-SPC DUE TO THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE GUSTAV. Over 65 tornado reports have been logged from September 1st, until September 3rd. The outer southeast bands of Gustav and the unstable environment September 1st started with 23 tornado reports in the southern Louisiana, Mississippi region. Then an approaching northwest front to keep things interesting, the outer bands produced 31 reports the next day in the same vicinity. Unfortunately there was one fatality on Sept. 2nd, as these tornadoes appeared to be strong. The third day had 11 reports in the same vicinity. There is a lesson to be learned from this outbreak.

IF THERE IS AN ADVANCING OF A TROPICAL STORM OR HURRICANE ON LAND... BE PREPARED AS THERE IS USUALLY MESOCYCLONE ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH THESE CYCLONES.

Below are a few images illustrating the events stirred up by the remnants of Gustav. The below image "1" shows the remnants and warnings 9-2 in action, on "2, 3, 4" images are the tornado reports for the Gustav remnant time period.
