The
Town in Kansas Rebuilds "Green" after a Devastating Tornado,
an F-5 "Fujita Scale 5" hit on, May 4th 2007, at 9:45 pm. The town of Greensburg was 95% destroyed. As the town residents pull together
after this tragedy, the progress is amazing. In my travels just one week
prior, I remember Greensburg "how it was". I was out there right
after the disaster hit, I was blown away by what occured. This was the
time of a turning point for what we do out there in storm research. SevereWarningSystems.com
was initiated on the principals and solutions for early warning systems research.
We are further planning an ongoing research plan for the possibility of

IN OUR INVITATION AND VISIT TO THIS "ONE YEAR AFTER" EVENT, IT WAS AWESOME TO SEE THE PEOPLE OF GREENSBURG RALLY AS ONE BIG FAMILY. THERE WERE FESTIVITIES, FELLOWSHIP SERVICES, GREAT FOOD, AND MOST IMPORTANT, "HOW THIS TOWN WAS REBUILDING". GREENSBURG HAS DECIDED TO BUILD "ALL GREEN" WHICH MEANS THAT ALL THE MATERIALS USED IN THE REBUILDING WILL BE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.
WE DID CONTINUE TO FOLLOWING UP WITH OUR CONTACTS IN GREENSBURG. ALSO SWS HAS CONDUCTED INTERVIEWS WITH A COUPLE OF RESIDENTS THAT HAVE SOME INTERESTING THINGS TO SAY FROM BEING "IN THE ZONE" AT THE TIME THIS TRAGEDY OCCURED. STAY TUNED FOR THIS COMING SOON.
